Watch the celebration of the bill's passage above, May 6, 2010.The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act now includes postpartum depression legislation calling for research and funding for treatment/support protocols. However, the bill has not been funded. However, its passage still signals the end of silent stigma that has disrupted and ended the lives of America's mothers for decades.
Thank you to everyone who signed this petition which will continue in order to encourage eventual funding of this new law!! The listing of its supporters will remain online and continue to grow until the new bill is funded, implemented and every state has responded to its initiatives! Thank you for your continuing commitment to this long sought federal mandate!
Two things you can do today to continue to show your support!
1. Add your name to the state by state constituent listings to support the bill's funding byemailing us your permission to be included on the state by state listings, by sending your name, state and any affiliation. 2. Encourage other mothers, friends and family members to sign on to encourage its funding and implementation as well! In no other illness does the health and well-being of one individual so directly affect the development, health and well-being of another!

UPDATE:Mikulski Amendment nowalso now included in the passed senate version of The Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act. This amendment encourages screening for postpartum depression and other women's medical issues.
