U.S. Senator Robert Menendez discusses The Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act… What does it mean for America’s mothers?

Now that we finally have a federal law directing funds to research about postpartum and perinatal mood disorders, establishing grants for community based programs and services supportive to new mothers experiencing PMADs (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders), and initiating a campaign to further awareness and education on these disorders to consumers and healthcare practitioners alike, what can we expect?

After nearly a decade of tireless advocacy, this landmark legislation –which places maternal mental health at its center – has finally become law. Join Senator Menendez as he talks about why he took up the cause as the bill’s leading Senate sponsor, and what it will mean for America’s mothers. Advocates Sylvia Lasalandra and myself were invited to participate. Watch the video here
